Education
Amy Poux is a New York-based director situated in the Hudson Valley. Throughout her career, Poux has been focused on creating original contemporary theater, scripted and unscripted, and is skilled at eliciting honest, riveting, and often hilarious performances from actors.
She is currently developing The Restaurant, an unscripted site specific play highlighting the inner workings of a restaurant.
In the Hudson Valley, Poux formed Intergeneration Ensemble (I.E.) and Youth Ensemble Theater (Y.E.T) which have had award-winning productions at The Richard B. Fisher Performing Arts Center (Bard College), NY State & Film/Powerhouse Theater Festival (Poughkeepsie, NY), Boughton Place (Highland, NY), Byrdcliffe Theater (Woodstock, NY), Denizen Theatre (New Paltz, NY) among others. YET has garnered awards from the American Academy for the Dramatic Arts (Featured performance/Youth Theatre Conference 2018), the NYC Thespian Society (Best Play/Best supporting actress, 2019), NYS Theatre Education Association (Award of Excellence 2019) , and was awarded 1st place, “Best Film 2022” in the Tales From the Catskills Amateur Film Competition for the short film ESCAPE!!!
During the covid pandemic, Poux focused on unscripted zoom productions and teleplays, including: “Zoom School”, an unscripted, improvised web series about a group of random students forced to complete a nightmare school project on Zoom, and “WEIrD”, a teleplay about an outcast teen and the community that conspires to ostracize him.
As a filmmaker, Poux’s recent work includes Director/Writer/Producer of the film short, Do Nothings (2023), a coming-of-age musical comedy, which follows the life of “Tamarin”, a non-binary singer-songwriter with crippling stage fright. Do Nothings (2023) is currently being submitted to festivals worldwide.
