Studio Acting Conservatory

Studio Acting Conservatory jobs

Studio Acting Conservatory is an actor’s training institution which was founded in 1975 and served as the founding organization for Studio Theatre. The Conservatory became independent in 2018 and moved into its current location in 2021. Housed in the Conservatory space is the Last Supper sculpture, a 20-foot-wide bas relief that was rediscovered during the renovation of their newly purchased building. The relief was created in the early 1980s by Akili Ron Anderson and depicts Jesus and his disciples as African American men. Anderson is a noted member of the Black Arts Movement and now a tenured art professor at Howard University. As stewards of this significant work of art, the Conservatory offers public viewings and programming that advance the understanding of the culture and movement out of which it was created.
