The Technical Director for Lincoln Community Playhouse is responsible for creating build drawings and constructing scenic elements; maintaining shop equipment; the rigging of scenic elements and upkeep of single purchase non-motorize fly system; the maintenance and inventory of stock scenic, props, lighting, and sound equipment; maintaining a safe work environment for all shop employees and volunteers; assisting in venue maintenance; creating and keeping-to build/load-in schedules; the loading in, striking, and storage of scenic, props, lighting, and sound elements.
The Technical Director oversees those hired-in to be Scenic Painter, Props Master, and Master Electrician as well as oversees and teaches community volunteers to assist with construction, painting, hanging, and focusing lights, etc. Possible scenic design and/or lighting design (separate contract).
The shop has had a recent $15,000 tool upgrade including a SawStop table saw.
The applicant must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, climb ladders, and use standard shop power tools.
Applicants need experience with single purchase non-motorized fly systems, general stage rigging, general theatrical construction and engineering, and AutoCAD. Preferred experience includes knowledge of ETC lighting consoles, the Behringer X32 sound console, theatre degree and at least 2 years of experience in theatrical shops.
Salary is $40,000 plus health insurance.
