Part-Time Teaching Artist
Art Omi is seeking teaching artists of any/all disciplines to participate in a K-6 public school Arts Integration Initiative to occur in the 2018/2019 academic year. Established by the Ellsworth Kelly Foundation and in partnership with Art Omi, this initiative connects teaching artists, classroom teachers, and arts integration specialists with the intention of incorporating the arts into existing core curriculum.
The program is guided by the arts integration approach to teaching in which students construct and demonstrate understanding through various art forms to expand their creative, critical thinking, problem solving and collaborative skills .
The successful candidate will work with a group of teachers to create a series of six classroom workshops that focus on a pre-determined academic subject which may include math, science, social studies, physical education, history, or language arts.
The teaching artist should have experience working with elementary school students and must possess strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
Artists must commit to six consecutive teaching weeks (one day per week) and provide their own transportation to the school.
In addition, artists will attend 3-4 planning and follow up meetings.
Education: 4-Year Degree
