Collections Manager

The Turchin Center for the Visual Arts at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, is hiring a full-time, on-site Collections Manager.

The Collections Manager plays a vital role in advancing the Turchin Center’s mission by overseeing the development, stewardship, and intellectual integrity of the Permanent Collection.
This position ensures that the collection—more than 2,500 works of art—is properly preserved, documented, and made accessible to researchers and the public.

Key responsibilities include managing all aspects of collections care, such as preservation, cataloging, storage, insurance, rights and reproductions, and legal compliance.
The Collections Manager will lead the creation of a comprehensive collections policy to guide acquisitions, deaccessioning, and long‑term care.
This role also provides leadership in the ongoing reorganization and optimization of the center’s physical storage spaces.
