Sales Associate

Bauman Rare Books specializes in fine antiquarian books and historical documents spanning the 15th through 21st centuries. We are known for our scholarly expertise, the exceptional quality of our inventory, and our personalized service. For over fifty years, we’ve cultivated collections for private collectors, museums, and academic institutions.

We are currently seeking a knowledgeable, articulate, and motivated full-time Sales Associate to join our Las Vegas gallery.

About the Role

This is a dynamic sales position in a luxury retail environment focused on rare and antiquarian books. The successful candidate will engage directly with clients from around the world, helping to curate and build rare book collections.

Key Responsibilities

• Meet sales goals in a fast-paced, results-driven retail environment
• Provide exceptional customer service and personalized attention on the gallery floor
• Interact with a high volume of visitors each day to qualify potential sales leads, maintaining a high level of energy and curiosity
• Communicate professionally and clearly with clients by phone, email, and in person
• Prioritize and balance administrative tasks, sales, and ongoing training expectations
• Study and communicate historical, bibliographic, and market information
• Assist clients in developing and maintaining private collections

Qualifications

• Completed bachelor’s degree required, preferably with a liberal arts focus
• Confident knowledge and interest in literature, history, and rare books (though previous rare book experience is not required)
• 1-2 years of experience in customer service, luxury retail, sales, or similar client-facing fields required
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work in close collaboration with colleagues; strong teamwork ability
• Experience with CRM and inventory systems preferred
• Self-motivated and takes initiative, organized, detail-oriented, able to prioritize and multitask as needed
• Comfortable with negotiation and high-value transactions
• Strong writing and research abilities

Additional Requirements

• Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  The Las Vegas gallery is open 365 days a year, 10 AM – 8 PM
• Professional and polished appearance
• Must be comfortable cross-training on additional duties including but not limited to packing and shipping delicate materials, receiving and unpacking inventory, moving and displaying inventory items, organizing supplies, climbing up ladders to retrieve inventory, light tidying of gallery as needed

Salary

• The expected hiring range for this position is $37,000–$41,000.
  Actual offers will be determined based on the candidate’s years of relevant experience, skill set, and educational background
