Lead Theatrical Rigging Installer

A full-time position to lead crews in the installation of complicated manual rigging, motorized rigging, stage curtains, stage curtain tracks, pipe grids, and perform stage rigging safety inspections. These installations will take place in customer facilities throughout the VLS region and require regular out of town travel.

Reports to: Director of Project Delivery

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead installations and fabrication of stage rigging equipment, installation of lighting and distribution, curtains, tracks, winches etc.
• Facilitate and act as team leader when communicating and coordination with other trades while on job sites.
• Ensure that all trucks are stocked adequately with hardware and miscellaneous items.
• Fill material load lists on as-needed basis.
• Perform all safety check activity including documentation, photos, curtain samples, etc. And offer suggestions for repairs and improvements.
• Effectively drive process improvements (material handling, operational efficiency, labor hours, goal setting, job completion, etc.).
• Conduct and complete stage demonstrations and training, act as liaison with third party members. Field questions and answers in a professional manner.
• Lead efforts in redlining of drawings to ensure areas of concern are noted and submitted in a timely manner.
• Assist with loading of fleet vehicles when necessary.
• Perform general maintenance/cleanliness of fleet vehicles (wash, wax, check fluids, tire pressure and remove debris from vehicles, etc.).
• Ensure all records are accurately completed and maintained.
• Will always be a positive representative of VLS weather on a jobsite or whenever on out-of-town work-related travel and hotel stays.
• Take responsibility for the actions of the installation teams on and offsite when traveling to do installations.
• Train all installers and develop their skills needed become more rounded rigging employees.
• Perform other duties as assigned and directed.

Qualifications and Education:

• Must have a High School diploma or equivalent. One or more years in a construction environment is a plus.
• Must be ETCP Rigger Certified, OSHA 30-Hour Certified, and obtain an ETC commissioning certificate within 6 months of employment.
• Must be able to manage and run the onsite installation crew at facilities all over covered region. Must be able to work nights and weekends when required.
• Must provide all hand tools to perform specified job duties and be responsible for all VLS power tools on site and responsible for the return of all tools and equipment back to the company warehouse at the completion of all projects.
• All employees interact with clients; excellent customer service skills, professional appearance and demeanor are a must.
• A valid driver’s license and a good driving record are required.
• Must possess, or be physically fit to obtain, a Medical Card and meet DOT requirements for driving a commercial motor vehicle.
• Must pass an FBI criminal history background check, PA child abuse history check, and a PA BCI State criminal background check, within 30-days of hire.
• Must be able to pass 5-panel drug screen.
• Must be able to travel as scheduled and on an as-needed basis.
• Overtime is required during critical times of the year. Overtime will be determined and managed by department manager.
• Must have strong interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal), ability to organize, prioritize and follow direction.
• Must be able to operate various types of lifts (I.E., forklift trucks, pallet jacks, etc.).
• Requires basic working knowledge of PC based computer skills (Microsoft Office) knowledge and experience with AutoCad is a plus.
• Must have the ability to read and follow construction drawings and job specifications.
• Must be able to lift objects over 50lbs with the ability to handle objects over 300lbs.
