POSITION OVERVIEW

Two River Theater is seeking a part-time, seasonal General Management Assistant to join our General Management team.

This is a flexible, hybrid position with the option to be fully remote. Working hours will be limited to 10-20 hours per week, with flexibility on the exact hours worked, but some availability is needed within normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 10AM-6PM ET).

The General Management Assistant reports to the General Manager and provides administrative and project support throughout the artist contract lifecycle, from initial offers through contracting, onboarding, and payment. The position will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with general management practices, theater union requirements, artist contracting, and commercially funded theatrical projects. This is an ideal opportunity for a theater professional interested in developing their understanding of the business and administrative side of producing.

ABOUT TWO RIVER THEATER

Two River Theater produces a theatrical season that includes American and world classics, new plays and musicals, programs for young people, and festivals of new work.

Each year, we also offer 40+ events that reflect our diverse community of Red Bank, New Jersey. Two River produces work on two stages—the 350-seat Rechnitz Theater, and the flexible 110-seat Marion Huber Theater. The theater’s recently opened Center for New Work, Education and Design is a three-story facility that includes two rehearsal studios, artist labs, classrooms, expanded shops and centrally located offices. Two River Theater has commissioned and premiered original projects including Be More Chill by Tony Award nominee Joe Iconis and Joe Tracz (the theater’s first Broadway production) and Hurricane Diane by former Playwright-in-Residence Madeleine George (which won an Obie Award for its Off-Broadway run). In June 2019, Two River was nationally recognized by USA TODAY as one of “10 great places to see a play” across the U.S. Two River serves thousands of students and community members through arts and humanities programs at the theater, in schools and throughout its region.  Two River Theater is led by Artistic Director Justin Waldman and Managing Director Nora DeVeau-Rosen and was founded in 1994 by Joan and Robert Rechnitz.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

• Supports the General Manager with artist offers, contract preparation, onboarding, and payment administration across multiple projects.
• Maintains accurate tracking of artist offers, contracts, onboarding requirements, and payment status, helping ensure timely follow-up and completion of outstanding items.
• Gains hands-on experience with the artist contract lifecycle, administration of union collective bargaining agreement (CBA) requirements, and commercially funded theatrical projects.

COMPETENCIES & SKILLS

• Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and follow-up items.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when working with contracts, financial information, and tracking systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with artists, agents, managers, and internal staff, as needed.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage priorities, and ask questions or seek clarification when needed.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

PREFERRED SKILLS

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office/Teams/SharePoint
• Experience with artist contracting, company management, general management, producing, payroll, accounts payable, or arts administration.
• Familiarity with theater union collective bargaining agreements, particularly Actors’ Equity Association (AEA), Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC), and/or United Scenic Artists (USA).
• Experience working on commercially funded theatrical projects.

Part-Time Seasonal Position

• Compensation: $26/hour
• Schedule: Part-time (approx 10-20 hours per week)
• Engagement Period: Approximately 3–4 months
• Work Arrangement: Fully remote
