Our Flagstar Strand Theatre is a landmark that thrives on exceptional events, and our small but mighty team is seeking a Talent Buyer to help make each one memorable. Position Overview:
We’re searching for a sharp, motivated, and innovative Talent Buyer to join our team and lead the charge in booking diverse and exciting acts. This role is perfect for a strategic thinker who can juggle industry relationships, contract negotiations, budget tracking, and event planning. You’ll be working closely with our President, promoters, and production team to ensure every show is a hit—from concept to curtain call.
Key Responsibilities:
- Relationship Building:
Establish and cultivate lasting relationships with agents, managers, and other industry influencers to attract top talent. - Contracts & Negotiations:
Handle contract negotiations with artist representatives, ensuring all details align and deposits are met promptly. - Event Management:
Oversee and coordinate day-of-show logistics for seamless and successful events. - Budget Oversight:
Accurately forecast and monitor show budgets, helping to achieve financial goals and maximize profit. - Calendar Management:
Keep the venue’s calendar organized and up-to-date with events and bookings. - Customer Service:
Provide exceptional service to all patrons, ensuring positive experiences that turn audiences into fans. - Promoter Coordination:
Work hand-in-hand with promoters, managing tour requests, settlements, and documentation. - Day of Show (DOS) Management:
Take the reins or assist with day-of responsibilities, ensuring every show goes off without a hitch. - Industry Conferences:
Attend 2-4 industry conferences annually for networking and professional development.
About You:
- Industry Savvy:
You have extensive knowledge of musicians, comedians, and other live performers. - Problem-Solver:
You’re resourceful, proactive, and approach challenges with a solutions-driven mindset. - Experienced:
You bring 3-5 years in the event or entertainment industry, ideally with music booking or related expertise. - Team-Oriented:
You’re a self-starter but thrive in collaborative environments, ready to roll up your sleeves and pitch in when needed. - Organized & Detail-Oriented:
Your keen eye for detail ensures nothing slips through the cracks.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in event management, talent buying, or similar role
- Strong familiarity with the entertainment industry, from artists to booking practices
- Ability to travel 2-4 times per year for industry events
