PLAYING ON AIR seeks a MANAGING DIRECTOR

Since Playing on Air’s first public radio season in 2012, it has been providing the highest caliber short audio drama for free and on demand worldwide. Devoted to a new form of theater accessibility, it records compelling short plays by top playwrights, ace directors, and world-class performers.  This way access to entertaining, thought provoking theater is easily accessible on public radio, podcast, and our website: playingonair.org. Every POA play is followed by an insightful conversation with its playwright, director and cast about the short they just recorded.

• Capacity to solve problems and engage in creative responses to challenges.
• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to cultivate and engage a strong and diverse Board and staff.

Job Details:

• Business Management:
  Reporting to the Board, preparing and managing short and long-term budgets. Coordinating with POA’s accountant and book-keeper regarding payments, financial reports, insurance, and banking. Working with PoA attorney’s Licensing Agreements, Union and Venue Agreements, and other business/legal documents.

• Fundraising:
  Lead efforts in terms of grants, sponsorships, earned income, and events. Primary force in terms of identifying prospects, and execution for all company support.

• Marketing:
  Handle/supervise social media, audience outreach, PR, and growing our public radio presence and podcast audience.

• HR, DEI, personnel issues:
  In partnership with PoA’s Artistic Director and Board.

Employment Type: Full-Time or Part-Time

Location: Work remotely, with in person meetings at 729 7th Ave 4th floor, NY, NY

Compensation: Full-Time $70,000-$75,000. Part-time $30,000-$35,000
