Managing Director

Evidence, A Dance Company is seeking a highly collaborative and strategic Managing Director to oversee the administrative and business operations of the organization in partnership with Founding Artistic Director Ronald K. Brown and Associate Artistic Director Arcell Cabuag.

The Managing Director will provide leadership across finance, human resources, marketing, development, and day-to-day operations, ensuring that the administrative infrastructure supports the artistic vision and long-term sustainability of the company. This position is ideal for a dynamic arts leader who is equally comfortable navigating the business and artistic aspects of a contemporary modern dance organization. The successful candidate will bring strong nonprofit management experience, financial acuity, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for supporting artists and the performing arts.

Key Responsibilities

Organizational Leadership

• Serve as the senior administrative leader of the organization in close collaboration with the Founding Artistic Director and Associate Artistic Director.
• Support and help implement the company’s strategic vision and organizational priorities.
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and mission-driven organizational culture.
• Oversee the day-to-day administrative operations of the company.

Finance & Human Resources

• Lead the organization’s financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
• Ensure sound fiscal management that sustains and strengthens the company’s annual and long-term financial health.
• Oversee cash flow, financial controls, compliance, payroll, and financial reporting.
• Manage human resources functions, including hiring, employee relations, benefits administration, and personnel policies.

Development & Fundraising

• Partner with leadership to develop and implement fundraising strategies.
• Oversee institutional giving, individual giving, sponsorships, special events, and donor stewardship.
• Support grant development and reporting in collaboration with staff.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with funders, donors, and community partners.

Marketing & Communications

• Provide strategic oversight of marketing, communications, and audience engagement initiatives.
• Collaborate with staff and consultants to strengthen the company’s visibility, brand, and public presence.
• Support initiatives that expand audiences, new revenue streams and deepen community engagement.

Operations

• Oversee contracts, organizational policies, and administrative systems.
• Coordinate organizational planning, project management, and production logistics as needed.
