Full-Time Major Gifts Officer

San Francisco Conservatory of Music  San Francisco, California, United States

San Francisco Conservatory of Music

Job Description

SFCM is seeking to hire a Major Gift Officer to serve as a front-line fundraiser securing major commitments for the SFCM annual fund, scholarship fund, and capital and endowment initiatives.

The Leadership Giving Officer will join a dynamic and accomplished Advancement team and directly manage a portfolio of leadership donors to secure funding for SFCM’s needs and goals.
Working with other members of the Advancement team, this position is responsible for identifying and cultivating a pipeline of donors and prospects as well as creating unique engagement experiences to connect major donors with SFCM students, faculty, and alumni.
This position will play a key role in SFCM’s upcoming endowment campaign, which will increase funding for special programs, faculty initiatives, and scholarships.

SFCM loves to be at the center of good things happening in music education.
Our students and alumni are doing incredible work in a range of disciplines: landing positions at the world’s top ensembles, working at the intersection of music and technology in Silicon Valley, and starting their own organizations and even going to medical school.
In addition to its top-rated undergraduate and graduate curricula, SFCM offers other programs locally and nationally including the Pre-College division, the Rubin Institute for Music Criticism, and Continuing Education for adult learners. SFCM recently opened the Bowes Center, which doubles the campus footprint, provides dorm room housing for the student body, and brings state-of-the-art teaching facilities and three new performance halls to San Francisco’s Civic Center arts corridor.
What does SFCM offer you?

SFCM is a place unlike any other. It’s a place where you can be a part of our transformation with a soon-to-be-completed capital project, be a critical team member in a growing fundraising operation, and work with our patrons while being surrounded by music and inspired by students. You can attend a concert or rehearsal as often as you wish. You’ll work adjacent to the major cultural organizations of San Francisco with which we collaborate and are playing a role in shaping the future Civic Center. And you’ll work alongside thoughtful, intelligent individuals who lead with curiosity, creativity, empathy, and optimism.

SFCM has just successfully completed a multi-year strategic plan that launched innovative new programs like Roots, Jazz, and American Music and Technology (RJAM) and Technology and Applied Composition (TAC) and is close to achieving $125 million for our campus expansion. This year, we begin a new strategic plan that continues SFCM’s transformation and dramatically expands opportunities for the next generation of musicians with the goal of growing SFCM’s endowment. With students at the center of everything SFCM does, we’re seeking someone who is passionate about relationship building and the student experience and who can inspire leadership donors to play their part in SFCM’s continued growth and transformation.
