Full-Time Graphic Designer

Job Description

Reporting to the IU Auditorium Marketing Manager, the Graphic Designer at IU Auditorium develops ideas, designs materials, assists in developing and maintaining IU Auditorium’s brand, and coordinates production for IU Auditorium-presented events, assigned rental events, IU Event Services, and other projects as needed.

A liaison with show representatives on art-related tasks, the Graphic Designer acquires images, admats, and other graphic assets for IU Auditorium-presented events. The position designs and coordinates production of all assets for IU Auditorium-presented events in line with the branding and style requirements for each individual event, Indiana University, and IU Auditorium. The Graphic Designer insures all assets are approved and complete by the Marketing Manager and event partners.

The position designs pieces and coordinates projects for other Auditorium departments and rental events as assigned, including rental event graphics and materials, fundraising brochures, season partnership materials, signage, mailing inserts, and rental promotional materials and guides. As member of the IU Auditorium marketing team, the Graphic Designer attends marketing meetings and contributes ideas to increase sales.

The Graphic Designer designs email blasts for Auditorium patrons and aids in maintaining email schedules as directed by the Marketing Manager, while also assisting in best practices with current and prospective patrons. The position aids in the redesign, branding, and updating of, creating and maintaining custom pages and images as directed by the Marketing Manager. The position also designs social media images as needed and oversees online and server catalogs of IU Auditorium photos.

This position designs, updates, and maintains IU Auditorium image and information pieces including the annual report, facility and artwork brochures, and other pieces as assigned. The Graphic Designer develops and designs materials needed to cultivate sales to new students and their families during New Student Orientation programs held at IU Auditorium, displays for on- and off-campus info fairs and events, and materials to support and promote education outreach programs. The Graphic Designer also designs visual presentations for key Auditorium spokespeople (Executive Director, Managing Director, and Development Director).

The Graphic Designer designs materials and maintains a brand for Front of House and IU Event Services recruitment efforts and job fairs to solicit ushers, student managers, ticket takers, hosts, guest services staffing, etc. The position aids in the overarching design and brand adherence of venue signage, manual design, training materials, commencement needs, and other event, operational, and administrative printed materials. The position also designs and maintains venue and promoter/client information guides for IU Auditorium, Presidents Hall, Conrad Prebys Amphitheater, Woodburn Hall 100, and Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design, art, fine arts, or related field and one year of design experience in a professional business setting.

Strong time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite software and Microsoft Office programs. Self-motivated and strong work ethic to see tasks through. Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information. Available to work occasionally on evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to represent Indiana University in a professional and team-oriented manner. Ability to be diplomatic for show and vendor communication requirements. Understanding of various traditional and electronic/new media platforms as well as experience with print production.

The use of a computer terminal for many hours a day is expected. A significant amount of time viewing computer monitor is required. Keyboard fluency and good visual/audio perception are critical. Editorial concentration is paramount. Tight deadlines may create some degree of stress.

Equipment utilized: Macintosh computer and Adobe Creative Suite.
