neugerriemschneider is a gallery for contemporary art based in Berlin, Germany. Since its founding in 1994, the gallery has shown a consistent and growing program of artists who are active at the highest international level. With two gallery locations in Berlin and the expertise of an experienced team, we are dedicated to the long-term representation of our artists in institutional contexts, prestigious private collections and leading art fairs worldwide.
We are looking for a sales person based in the US on a long term basis.
Position profile
We are looking for an experienced candidate who is enthusiastic about growing our artists’ presence in American collections with a focus on establishing long term relationships with collectors and institutions.
This position at neugerriemschneider requires working closely with each department team and proactive communication with the sales team. You will be in frequent and direct contact with the gallery owners to strategize and implement sales.
Your tasks will primarily involve the following responsibilities:
- You will work on the placement of our artists’ works in leading and prestigious collections and institutions in the US
- You will represent the gallery at selected art fairs and exhibitions internationally
- Proactive expansion of contacts in the US with an emphasis on responsible, long term placement of artworks in dynamic collections
- You will be offering artworks to collectors and institutions with an emphasis on strategy and the thorough preparation of offers
- The administrative and organizational handling of sales processes together with other teams in the gallery
- While this is a remote position, you will be expected to be integrated into the gallery and its operations with meetings on a daily basis with the sales and others department teams as well as communication with the gallery owners on a regular basis
- Presence during the full run of selected art fairs and a willingness to cover specified administrative/other tasks on site
- Travel to the Berlin galleries for selected events
Candidate profile Qualifications
- Several years of sales relevant and/or artist liaison experience within an international gallery or institutional context with an understanding of gallery operations on broader level
- Understanding of sales driven strategies within the broader gallery ecosystem
- You have a strong knowledge of art history and the contemporary art market and can identify with the gallery’s artists and program
- High level of self-motivation, communication skills, and a proactive command of workflow structure while working remotely
- Enthusiastic participation in a larger team structure; working in collaboration with colleagues across various departments to prepare offers and post sales coordination
- Enthusiastic and proactive coordination directly with the gallery owners to strategize sales
- Confidence in handling of common Mac and Microsoft applications, preferable fluency in Artlogic
- Fluent written and spoken English is required, further language skills in German, Spanish, and French would also be an advantage
