Job Description

The University of Colorado Boulder encourages applications for our Executive Director of CU Presents!

The Executive Director is responsible for leadership, coordination, and oversight of CU Presents, which provides integrated marketing, public relations, and box office services for performing arts on the CU Boulder campus. The Executive Director of CU Presents (CUP) reports to the Dean of the College of Music and works closely with CUP partners in Theatre and Dance and the Colorado Shakespeare Festival. In addition, this position serves to advise and collaborate with the College of Music Dean, faculty, and students on artistic programming for the College of Music, which will serve its mission of inspiring artistry and discovery.

CU Presents’ portfolio includes events for the College of Music, the Department of Theatre and Dance, and the Colorado Shakespeare Festival. The College of Music has approximately 48 ticketed performances during the academic year, which include the Artist Series, Takács Quartet, Eklund Opera, Music Theatre, and the Holiday Festival. In support of its academic mission, the College of Music also offers more than 350 non-ticketed events each year, including student concerts and recitals, Faculty Tuesdays, and other special events. The Department of Theatre and Dance has over 50 ticketed nights of show during its academic-year season, and the Colorado Shakespeare Festival has over 60 ticketed nights of show during its summer season.

The individual in this position will be a professional with content expertise in key areas, who advises the Dean of the College of Music and other campus leaders to help achieve the greatest success with performing arts programming on campus. They should be an inspirational team leader who demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and access and the ability to build trust and productive working relationships with a wide variety of collaborators, particularly internal colleagues in artistic programming, operations, communications, and advancement. They should bring a problem-solving approach focused on continual improvement and growth, both in outcomes and alignment with mission.

Salary and Benefits Information:

The salary range for this position is $100,000 – $110,000 annually.

What We Require:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience and education may substitute.
  • Six years of proven leadership in complex operations within an artistic setting that included supervision.
  • Experience with marketing and promotions in the performing arts.
  • Supervisory experience, including team leadership and performance planning and management.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and solution-seeking approach.
  • Experience and ability in budget management.
