Brattleboro Museum & Art Center (BMAC), an Equal Opportunity Employer, seeks a friendly, conscientious “people person” with excellent communication and project management skills to join our team as part‐time Events Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Events Manager is responsible for the smooth and successful planning and execution of most BMAC events ‐‐ approx. 60 per year, including public events, fundraisers, rental events, and Board meetings.

For each event, the Events Manager’s responsibilities begin at the brainstorming stage and conclude with sending out thank‐you notes. Some specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
– Working with other BMAC staff members to conceive public events;
– Scheduling events in a fashion that allows for timely and effective promotion and execution;
– Creating an implementation plan for each event that accommodates the needs and requirements of presenters, renters, vendors, guests, and the Museum;
– Hiring, training, and supervising paid and volunteer event staff;
– Creating and maintaining event‐related records, including contracts; and
– Maintaining event‐related equipment and supplies in good working order.

The Events Manager also performs other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

HOURS AND SCHEDULE

The Events Manager reports to the Director. S/he works 16‐20 hours per week during regular BMAC office hours (Monday‐Friday, 10‐6). Some evening and weekend hours required. It may be possible for this position to be expanded, in terms of both hours and responsibilities, beginning in the fall of 2019.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate for this position is a friendly “people person” with excellent communication and project management skills, including the ability to manage numerous projects at various stages of completion simultaneously. Comfort with Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is a must. Interest and/or experience in art, museums, galleries, non‐profits helpful but not required.
