Director of Development

ArtStream Inc. is currently looking for a full-time Development Director.

Organization & Job Summary

ArtStream is a nonprofit that provides performing arts opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia (DMV) area. ArtStream is currently in an innovation and growth phase, ideal candidates are able to flourish in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.

The Development Director fulfills a key position reporting directly to the Executive Artistic Director. The position coordinates various aspects of the organization and plays a vital role in the overall performance of ArtStream. This is a hybrid position requiring some in-person meetings, workshops and attendance at ArtStream activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Fundraising Strategy & Implementation:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan, including individual giving, corporate sponsorships, foundation grants, and special events. Lead donor cultivation and stewardship efforts, ensuring strong, lasting relationships
• Identify new revenue streams and opportunities for growth.
• Maintain and manage the donor CRM system, ensuring data hygiene and accurate record-keeping.

Grant Management:

• Oversee the grant application process, including writing, reporting, and compliance.
• Collaborate with staff to align grant applications and reporting with program performance data and impact.

Collaborative Leadership:

• Work closely with the Communications and Outreach Manager to align messaging and outreach strategies with development goals.
• Coordinate with staff to ensure that program successes and outcomes are integrated into fundraising materials and donor communications.
• Provide regular progress reports to the Executive Artistic Director and Board of Directors.

Donor Communication:

• Create compelling donor engagement strategies, including campaigns, events, and tailored communications.
• Ensure donor recognition is meaningful and appropriate across all platforms.

Event Planning:

• Plan and execute fundraising events working closely with ArtStream’s staff to ensure smooth, successful, inspiring events.
• Plan and execute ArtStream’s 20th anniversary Gala and related celebration and fundraising efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Development, related field (or equivalent experience), or CFRM.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in leadership in development, fundraising, or a similar role (nonprofit experience preferred).
• Strong understanding of fundraising principles and grant reporting.
• Proficiency in Constant Contact, Bloomerang, Google Workspace.
• Ability to create structure and process that supports short and long term goals. Ability to work in an entrepreneurial and fast paced environment.
• Commitment to ArtStream’s mission and values, with a passion for serving individuals with IDD.
• Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check (following a conditional offer of employment)
• Ability to work at events, in social settings, and be able to set-up or break down event materials as needed.

Work Environment:
Some local travel is required. Hybrid position.

Compensation:
$67,000; pay is commensurate with experience. Plus health benefits, Paid Time Off (PTO) and Sick Leave.
