Dance Production Coordinator

The Oberlin College Departments of Dance and Theater seek a versatile and experienced individual for the role of Dance Production Coordinator.

This 12-month administrative and professional staff position includes a two-course lectureship. We seek a creative leader with a strong technical background who excels at collaboration and managing diverse teams. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and effectively to diverse stakeholders is essential. Production Direction:
Collaborate closely with faculty, students, guest directors, and other production team members to create positive production environments that enhance the performance concept and audience experience for Dance Department programming.
Production Management: Oversee all the technical aspects of projects in Warner Center, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating lighting, sound, set design, video projections, and all other production needs when necessary. Ensure technical and production tasks are completed professionally and executed according to the director’s vision and production schedule.

Instruction:
Develop and teach two courses per year in the applicant’s area of expertise that complements the Production and Design category within the Dance major.

Training and Development:
Provide training and support to student technical assistants (Warner TAs), ensuring they are educated in production equipment and industry procedures and providing pre-professional experience to prepare them for the workforce.

Technical Support:
Provide on-site technical support and troubleshooting for all production and facility issues in Warner Center.

Facility Maintenance:
Coordinate with the Production Technical Director, facilities office, custodial staff, and dance faculty, care for Warner Center facilities, and strategize for long-term preservation, sustainability, and adaptive use.

Required Qualifications:

Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Theatrical Production and Design, Technical Theater, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).

Production Team Leadership:
Prior experience leading a production team, including supervision of
technical staff and coordination of daily responsibilities, performance, scheduling, and production
activities.

Technical Knowledge:
Strong technical knowledge of stage lighting, sound systems, rigging, and other production equipment. Working knowledge of MS Office, including MS Word and Excel, as well as Google Suite.

Maintenance Skills:
Demonstrated efficiency in performing equipment/hardware maintenance and
handling emergency repairs.
Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
Commitment to Diversity: Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, professional staff, artists, administrators, and other stakeholders.
Teaching Experience: Past experience or demonstrated interest in teaching and mentoring
undergraduates.
Problem-Solving Ability: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and develop
creative solutions.
