Saint Louis University, a Catholic Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service, seeks applicants for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre Scenic and Lighting Design for the 2022-2023 academic year, beginning in August 2022.

The successful candidate will be responsible for: creating scenic and lighting designs for the four annual mainstage theatre productions, as well as two student-directed studio works; and teaching courses in stagecraft, design, general education theatre coursework, and other areas within the candidate’s expertise; mentoring students; overseeing focus and light hanging for the theatre productions; and participating in university service.

Successful candidates will have an MFA in Scenic Design, Lighting Design, or Technical Direction, plus professional and/or university design experience. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:

· Terminal Degree (MFA or PhD) by time of appointment from an accredited college or university.

· Record of professional experience in academic and/or professional settings

· Ability to work effectively with students, public, and University community with an appreciation for cultural and group differences.

· Evidence of successfully promoting an environment that advances justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Experience in sound and/or projection design
