Job Description

The Wabash College Theater Department invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin July 1, 2026.
An MFA or DFA is required, as is previous college-level teaching experience and/or significant professional experience in acting or directing. We anticipate hiring at the Assistant Professor level but will consider candidates of any rank.

Responsibilities will include teaching Acting or Directing, with opportunities to develop additional courses in areas of specialization (possibilities include: arts administration, film studies, musical theater, and/or playwriting/devising); collaborating with colleagues to coordinate the annual Studio One-Acts; directing productions as part of the department’s mainstage season; supporting and mentoring the Scarlet Masque, Wabash’s student theater organization; and contributing to the department’s rotation in Introduction to Theater and all-college courses. Teaching load is 3-3, with one of the six courses consisting of directing an annual mainstage production.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, research, and creative work in the broad intellectual community of an undergraduate, residential liberal arts setting.
Wabash College offers competitive salaries and benefits, with substantial support for professional travel, research, and creative work, as well as continued professional development orientations and workshops for all faculty.
In the pre-tenure years, this position’s appointment is as a Byron K. Trippet professor, which provides additional support for teaching, research, and creative work. Information about the department can be obtained from https://www.wabash.edu/academics/theater
