Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure track)
Architecture & Interior Design: Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure track) to teach Architecture and Interior Design related courses, conduct research that leads to publications and/or design projects, advise students, and provide service to the department, division, and institution. Assistant or Associate Professor will coordinate and teach foundation design studio and interior design related seminars. Appointment begins August 2023.
The Department of Architecture and Interior Design offers a CIDA-accredited professional BFA in Interior Design, a pre-professional BA in Architecture, and a NAAB-accredited Master of Architecture within a studio-based culture of experiential learning in the College of Creative Arts (CCA). We strive to provide students rigorous professional preparation within the context of a nationally recognized liberal arts university. Our students combine Miami University’s liberal arts foundation, arts disciplines, interdisciplinary course work, and studios to uniquely inform design processes, research, and project outcomes. In addition, our students and faculty regularly engage with communities locally and globally.

Master’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a closely related field by date of appointment, and a portfolio of creative achievement with prospective continuation for appointment as Assistant Professor. Master’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a closely related field by date of appointment; a portfolio of creative achievement with prospective continuation; one year of high-quality teaching experience; and scholarly achievement for appointment as Associate Professor.
Consideration may be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in Architecture or closely related field; demonstrated experience in an area of interior design inquiry; demonstrated interest or experience in innovative studio and seminar-based design foundations teaching; a record of creative/professional practice; at least one degree in interior design or interior architecture; NCIDQ certificate, or have the capability to obtain an NCIDQ certificate within three years; applicable professional registration; proven responsiveness to emerging technologies, human-centered work, and environmentally responsible design principles.
