Assistant or Associate Professor of Arts Management
Job Description
The Arts Management Program in the School of the Arts at the College of Charleston invites applications for the Assistant or Associate Professor of Arts Management position beginning August 2025.
Responsibilities at either rank include teaching six courses per year. In addition, the incumbent will be expected to regularly conduct research, engage with arts and cultural organizations, contribute to program development, mentor and advise undergraduate students, and perform service to the College, community, and profession as appropriate. Preference for this position will be given to candidates with a connection to an arts discipline and expertise in one or more of the following areas: strategic planning, arts policy, fundraising and grant writing, creativity, arts presenting, and arts marketing. Candidates should possess a demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses, and potentially, courses in the Graduate Certificate in Arts and Cultural Management, and conduct quality research in one or more of the above-stated areas.
Minimum Credentials:
A terminal degree in arts management or a closely related field is required. (If the degree is in a related field, at least 18 hours of arts management-related graduate coursework is required.)
The successful candidate for the rank of assistant professor will have 3-5+ years of experience in arts management which can include a combination of teaching arts management and closely related courses in colleges and universities and management experience in the arts management field. The successful candidate for the rank of associate professor will have 7-10+ years of experience teaching arts management and closely related courses at the college level in a tenure-track role and leadership experience in the arts. Candidates with both undergraduate and graduate teaching experience as well as online teaching are preferred. Candidates without online teaching experience will be asked to complete an online education readiness course at the College of Charleston.
