Amadeus Concerts Artistic & Executive Director

Amadeus Concerts’ dedicated, engaged, and focused Board of Directors seeks a part-time Artistic & Executive Director to lead our organization.

Our mission: “Amadeus Concerts inspires a community of classical music lovers in the Washington, D.C., area through up-close performances by professional musicians, educational outreach, and mentoring for young musicians. We collaborate with artistic partners and spotlight performers of the highest caliber, including our own Amadeus Orchestra.”

Each year we present several performances of orchestral, chamber, and opera music in Northern Virginia. Our events are primarily held in Great Falls and McLean, Virginia. Much of the work of the staff and board is accomplished remotely.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

Oversee the entire season of concerts and special events:

• Arrange dates, times, and venues for all performances.
• Work with the Conductor of the Amadeus Orchestra to set the orchestra budget.
• Hire performers and negotiate repertoire for all non-orchestra performances.
• Prepare program notes and deliver a pre-concert talk at each performance.

Implement educational efforts:

• Set up open rehearsals and side-by-side rehearsals.
• Run our Emerging Artist program.
• Build relationships with teachers (public schools, private schools, homeschooling groups)

Manage other administrative staff as applicable.

Work with the Board to:

• Develop meeting agendas, attend meetings, and drive the discussion of key topics necessary to implement the organization’s mission.
• Manage financial recordkeeping.
• Lead fundraising work:
  • Plan an annual charity auction and an annual fundraising party.
  • Cultivate relationships with individual and corporate donors and businesses.
  • Research grant opportunities and prepare applications.
• Spearhead marketing and outreach:
  • Build relationships in the community.
  • Oversee our stakeholder database.
  • Grow our social media presence.

• An artistic vision shaped by deep musical knowledge.
• Non-profit experience, especially as a leader.
• A passion for fundraising.
• Excellent skills in writing and public speaking.
• A detail-oriented mindset.
• Experience in delivering music education.
• Fluency with technology.
