Full-Time Theatre Director and Drama Instructor

Park Tudor School, located in Indianapolis, IN, is currently seeking an experienced, dynamic full-time Theatre Director and Drama instructor for the 2016–2017 school year.
There is a long-standing tradition at Park Tudor that encourages a healthy balance between academics, arts and athletics. The Theatre Director is an integral position in the Fine Arts Department in supporting Park Tudor’s vision of igniting curiosity, instilling compassion, inspiring courage in students while providing opportunities to dive deeply in an area of passion.
The responsibilities include and are not limited to:
Instructing courses in Theatre Exploration, Acting and Directing at the Middle and Upper School age levels to include: improvisation, adaptation, Shakespeare, stage craft, repertory theatre and independent study. Providing leadership and artistic vision for the Drama and Speech Department; define programing, curriculum development, and interdisciplinary collaborations to ensure students are engaged in a relevant, challenging, thought provoking learning environment with age appropriate experiences. Directing and managing all aspects of the Upper School Fall Play, Upper School Musical productions to include: artistic direction, budgeting, production meetings, script analysis, script adaptation; organizing, scheduling and managing auditions and rehearsals; student supervision; communicating and liaising with all parties involved, including actors, parents, production team and school at large. Working with the Technical Theatre Director for technical support and stage management of select productions and share management responsibilities of Auditorium facilities. Collaborating closely with fine art faculty members, the Director of Fine Arts and other school leadership to ensure strong, cooperative relationships and high artistic standards.
A Master’s Degree preferred or significant coursework in Theatre Education, Drama, Acting and Directing, and/or Theatre Arts; extensive experience in independent schools at the middle and upper school levels; extensive experience in mounting a broad range of theatrical productions and stage management, and a highly collaborative approach to teaching and learning.
