Job Description

The House Manager plays a critical role in delivering the WST “experience” to our patrons. The Manager is responsible for ensuring that front-of-house services for all WST events, activities, and venues consistently meet exceptional standards of customer service; this includes collaborating with event managers during the planning process of events, as well as supporting staff and clients on “the floor” during events. This position recruits, hires, trains, supervises, motivates, and schedules staff.

This position wears many hats and requires the ability to self-supervise-serve as Facility Supervisor, House Manager, Box Office Worker, Event Custodian, and Stage Worker, Answer phones and in-person patron questions. Maintain facility as needed. Hands on work is expected, Manage must clean as needed, set up chairs, tables, equipment for events, lock and alarm facility after all events. Also supervises and maintains safety of audience in the theater, sells tickets and refreshments, closes out box office and generates income reports.

WST prefers a performing arts background, especially technical theater experience. Demonstrated supervisory and leadership sills to effectively recruit, select, train, and motivate. Ability to work effectively with people of diverse cultural backgrounds. Ability to speak in front of large groups of people in a calm and professional manner with authority. Ability to work under pressure of deadlines in a fast-paced dynamic collaborative environment. Strong writing skills to prepare a variety of correspondence, reports, policies, and procedures, agreements, and training documents. Strong working knowledge of computer systems and software with a familiarity with beverage concession systems and ticketing software. Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays are a must!

The Wall Street Theater is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, a non profit organization, whose mission is to provide diverse programming and promote arts education, thereby enriching the cultural life of the greater Norwalk community.

The theater is the first next-generation venue in Connecticut to provide arts enthusiasts with a true transmedia experience, ignighting seamless storytelling across multiple media channels. Offering live shows, interactive entertainment, cinema, digital productions, art space, and a community arena in which to play, the Wall Street Theater is a go to destination in downtown Norwalk and a cultural asset for Fairfield County.
