Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts, located on the UConn campus in Storrs, CT, seeks an outstanding individual for the position of Theater Production Specialist. This position works alongside another Theater Production Specialist and under the direction of the Jorgensen Production Manager, who reports to the Operations Manager, who reports to the Director of Jorgensen Center. This position performs duties related to the technical preparations and operation of sophisticated production systems for events taking place on the Jorgensen stage.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Jorgensen Production Manager, the Theater Production Specialist will:
- Coordinate preparations for scheduled events such as performance and rehearsal spaces, production schedules, calendars, and budgets.
- Serves as primary on-site contact for local and visiting technical personnel concerning proper use of facilities and equipment by those personnel.
- Works as a production technician with visiting groups as necessary, including the installation and operation of state-of-the-art sound systems, digital video systems, operation of stage lighting, as well as stage management.
- Participates in the design and implementation of building system renovations. Assists with facility maintenance.
- Purchases materials for productions. Monitors the condition of equipment and production systems.
- Assures compliance with federal, state, and University regulations and codes governing the safety of occupants in a public performance venue.
- Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in technical theater or a related field, or equivalent training in theater technical fields.
- Two to three years of experience working with professional artists/entertainers from a broad range of artistic disciplines.
- Demonstrated knowledge of applications of theatrical equipment including theatrical sound systems, digital video systems, and theatrical stage lighting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated experience in working with theatrical sound systems, FOH sound consoles, and Dante audio software.
- Demonstrated experience with stage lighting design, implementation, and programming of lighting board.
- Experience with video production, including set-up of video shoots, and implementation of lighting and sound.

This is a full-time position and may require irregular and flexible hours at times.
