Lynn University seeks an experienced performing arts center administrator who will bring forward creative ways for the university’s cultural facilities to operate effectively and efficiently, finding new avenues of inter-departmental communication and collaboration through arts activities, and increasing attendance at all cultural concerts and performances.
The new Director will coordinate facility scheduling and operations, the overall usage and maintenance of the Wold Performing Arts Center, as well as other university spaces used for cultural activities such as the Amarnick-Goldstein Concert Hall, or any other venue on campus as applicable.
These arts spaces are student-centric, used primarily by the Drama Department and the Conservatory of Music, with other university bookings, speaker series, community rentals, and “Live at Lynn” performances. Yearly and multi-year donors support an annual series of outside presentations curated by the Director.
Both the Conservatory and the Drama Department have grown in national stature and recognition, as well in enrollments. The Director will help to manage and support the increase of usage and demand for the university’s cultural venues.
The arts center’s current annual operating budget is approximately $285,000. Many centralized departments (and budgets) help support the Performing Arts department including ticketing, marketing, IT, Campus Operations, finance, fund-raising, and University Advancement. This year the university has budgeted approximately $130,000 to bring in four outside shows this spring.
The Director will support the artistic vision of the institution by collaborating with different university departments in seeking grants and other fund-raising activities, as well as promotional efforts. The new person will also focus on ensuring all stakeholders are supported and guided to foster a highly collaborative environment. The Director will also be responsible to deliver an exceptional experience to all event attendees.
The position reports directly to the Vice President of Campus Operations.

The Wold Performing Arts Center:
Dedicated in the spring of 2010, the Wold Performing Arts Center is home to live theatrical performances by the university’s theatre arts program, Conservatory of Music concerts, and other university hosted activities. The Wold is comprised of a theatre seating 752, the Schmidt Family Studio (a black box), the Christine E. Lynn Salon, a spacious and elegant lobby, a concession stand, scene and costume shops, offices, and a box office

The Lynn Conservatory of Music’s high standard of musical training welcomes a world-class artist faculty, produces highly talented and motivated students, and delivers critically acclaimed performances.
Established over 25 years ago, the Lynn Conservatory today is one of the leading conservatories within a university environment. It admits a highly select group of gifted musicians from around the world to pursue a Bachelor of Music, Master of Music or Professional Performance Certificate. Its small class sizes and extensive performance opportunities are complemented by practical career preparation.
Students and the community enjoy concerts by the Lynn Philharmonia, master classes, recitals, competitions and community outreach programs.
Lynn University’s theater program blends traditional and contemporary theatrical training methods through innovative approaches that keep pace with the demands of the industry.
Drama majors help produce eight productions, including the annual Celebration of the Arts, two intimate cabarets, one student-directed production, two mainstage musicals and two mainstage plays.
Students specializing in acting focus on advanced acting techniques, directing, technical theater and playwriting, and students specializing in musical theater performance study singing and vocal techniques, dance, music theory and musical theater history.
Required Professional Skills and Abilities:
A master’s degree in arts, arts management, or not for profit administration is preferred (but experience can be considered in place of the educational requirement), in addition to a minimum of five (5) years senior leadership experience of increasing responsibility in a performing arts facility that demonstrates the key knowledge, abilities and skills as outlined herein. The ideal candidate will have experience, including responsibilities for staffing, evaluation, and performance management. Experience within a university setting is a plus.
The Director will need a comprehensive knowledge of music and theater, as well as all aspects of arts venue management including budget management, production, staff supervision, promotion, and fund-raising. This person will be an industry professional with existing networks within the cultural sector and a personal vision of how the arts and arts education play a role within the life of a university and the broader community.
Excellent analytical, writing, financial, and organizational skills are critical to the responsibilities of budget administration, policy development and implementation, oversight of contracts, and program management. The ability to build and maintain relationships with a broad range of stakeholders both inside and outside the university.
Compensation: $100,000 to $125,000.
