Company description
The Tobin Center has transformed performing arts in San Antonio delivering a world-class venue and world-class performances for everyone. The Tobin strives to excite all ages, cultures, lifestyles, and income levels with performances by many different artists in a wide array of genres.
The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts’ mission is to provide state-of-the-art facilities and services in support of its major tenants: The Symphony, the Opera, the Ballet and four other non-profit performance companies. To be self-supporting, the Center also presents commercial programming and rents facilities to for-profit organizations.
The facility includes three venues:
- A 1750-seat performance space with hall acoustics, adjustable for both acoustic and amplified music presentations. The main floor is convertible from traditional theatrical seating to a flat-floor capable of seating 600 or more for banquet or cabaret style concert seating included up to 1050 for a general admission open event.
- A 300-seat studio theater with numerous flexible-seating arrangements.
- An exterior venue along San Antonio’s famous River Walk, for plaza casts, film festivals, concerts, and receptions.
Position Summary
The position of Digital Marketing & Promotions Coordinator will report to the Director of Marketing and will be responsible for developing, executing, and managing digital and social media marketing strategies.
The Digital Marketing & Promotions Coordinator role will consist of project management, research, campaign & content creation, story pitching, execution, monitoring, and reporting. The role will also have responsibilities and duties that cross over between marketing, public relations, promotions, and events.
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and organizational skills, as well as a deep understanding of the arts and entertainment industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
General
- Assists with all aspects of show marketing, including artist marketing contact, marketing plan creation, media proposals, media buying, ad placements and settlement creation.
- Assists in development of timely reports and updates on results and activities.
- Proposes, confirms, and stays within approved budgets for marketing activities.
- Participates to insure institutional and non-profit mission marketing objectives are met and integrated via shows, partners, residents, and activities.
- Represents the organization with management approval and takes an appropriate leadership role when the opportunity presents itself.
- Works with the Director of Marketing to accept assignments, understanding expectations, keeping on task, participate in staff meetings, coordinate activity with team, keep team focused on revenue and be a team player.
- Assists in recruiting and managing departmental volunteers, closely coordinating with other marketing, sales, and development team members.
- Provides support for concert/show, theatre services, sales, development, educational, and/or institutional activities and projects as needed at the direction of the Director of Marketing.
- Works on special projects, initiatives, promotions and other programs as needed at the direction of the Director of Marketing.
- Assists in the collaboration and work provided by outside vendors, media outlets and marketing alliances.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with representatives of community, consumer, trade, and niche interest groups.
- Works on special projects, initiatives, promotions, and other programs as needed at the direction of the VP of Marketing.
Branding
- Assist in protecting the integrity of The Tobin Center’s brand and all uses.
- Communicate branding guidelines to promoters and residents.
Digital and Social
- Work directly with Director of Marketing to create an effective social media plan, to maximize the exposure of The Tobin Center, Tobin Residents, Institutional Initiatives and Tobin Entertainment events.
- Brainstorm new and creative digital growth strategies.
- Take independent and creative responsibility for the social media outreach with a concentration on advancing institutional awareness and brand development.
- Create and curate dynamic content to tell The Tobin Center’s Story through all digital channels, equally representing our productions, education initiative and community outreach efforts, while maintaining a consistent social media voice and tone.
- Train staff members on The Tobin Center’s social media guidelines and tools used for social media outreach.
- Maintain active social media presence for The Tobin Center aligned with the company brand, platforms include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tiktok, YouTube, and Vimeo. Ensure two-way communicate with audience to drive engagement.
- Cross-pollinate said platforms with the artists, shows, resident groups, engaged nonprofit and The Tobin branding messaging.
- Manage social media relationships including media partners, social media influencers and talent representatives.
- Identify and establish relationships with representatives of community, influencers and niche interest groups to increase awareness about The Tobin Center, performances and initiatives.
- Manage The Tobin Center website, ensuring content is updated on a regular basics. Act as the primary point person for internal departments and resident companies change requests.
- Proof and approve all website changes, residential/rental promoter press communications and social media content.
- Develop and manage effective email marketing campaigns that achieve communication and revenue goals. Craft and schedule emails for performance announcements, on-sales and promotions. Work collaboratively with other departments, resident partners and talent representatives to coordinate specific email marketing needs.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Theater/live entertainment/destination marketing field is a plus. Candidate must have experience with social media marketing/promotions and be proficient with graphic creation and manipulation through Adobe Creative Suite products. Knowledge of the San Antonio arts scene, including suburbs and surrounding communities, is preferred.
Candidate must have exceptional oral and written communication skills. An advanced ability to produce product for media and consumer consumption is necessary. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and promotion-minded marketer who is highly organized and self-motivated.

Salary: $40,000/year.
