Job Title: Digital Marketing Manager
Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati (Cincinnati, Ohio) seeks an analytical, creative, and detail-oriented Digital Marketing Manager to produce and share engaging content that drives audience development, deepens patron loyalty, and supports revenue objectives across the organization. We are looking for someone passionate about digital marketing and theatre who is ready to be an integral leader and contribute innovative ideas to build and maintain a strong community presence. This position reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications.
This is a full-time, exempt position with a starting annual salary range of $42,000–$48,000. The Digital Marketing Manager is eligible for benefits (medical, vision, dental, and life insurance, as well as paid time off).
Position Summary:
The marketing and communications team at Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati leads strategy and implementation of institutional branding, communications, and marketing. The Digital Marketing Manager is a key contributor to the shaping and sharing the cohesive narrative of Ensemble with the public by refining and executing strategies that focus on email marketing, web content, SEO/SEM, analytics, and social media campaigns to support the growth and retention of the theatre’s audiences. The ideal candidate should be a prolific and talented content creator as well as innovative, tech-savvy, and digital forward and is expected to maintain a deep understanding of current marketing technologies and possess the skills to analyze and use data to guide their work. This position also assists with other content marketing, project management, and departmental needs.
Location and Schedule This is an in-person position at 1127 Vine Street in Cincinnati, OH, with occasional opportunity for remote work. Base work schedule is during business hours (9 am–5 pm, Monday–Friday); however, work hours for this role will sometimes vary based on the dynamic schedule of a theater, particularly as it applies to performance-related duties (e.g., opening nights, dress rehearsals, press appearances, community events, etc.), as scheduled with as much reasonable advance notice as possible.
Roles and Responsibilities
Digital Strategy
- Develop and execute a robust social media strategy to enhance brand visibility and engagement across multiple platforms to increase brand awareness, foster engagement, and drive conversions for productions, classes, donations, special events, and more.
- Serve as the lead contact for the theater’s digital marketing agency Capacity Interactive (CI), interfacing with account reps multiple times each week to develop, optimize, and analyze paid campaigns.
- Partner across departments to oversee content development and publish videos, images, and text content.
- Track, report, and analyze digital marketing performance metrics, including website traffic, conversion rates, email, and social media engagement and utilizing GA4/CI dashboards for accurate data tracking and actionable insights.
- Create and manage Ensemble’s digital calendar as part of the overall marketing calendar, collaborate on content planning, and route post copy and graphics for final approval.
- Research trends and best practices in digital marketing and make recommendations for enhancing Ensemble’s digital presence.
- Train and work with all staff and teams utilizing digital channels to optimize strategies, ensure consistency, and guide efforts.
Social Media and Email Marketing
- Develop and manage comprehensive email marketing strategy for entire organization, covering campaign planning, content creation, timing, and frequency and maintain a communications calendar for all patron-facing emails, including those from development, education, events, etc.
- Build email templates, route proofs, and implement edits for an average of 10 emails per month across departments.
- Create engaging, personalized email content to nurture leads, retain customers, and drive conversions, optimizing various email content types (e.g., newsletters, promotions) through data-driven insights, dynamic content, and A/B testing.
- Stay aware of social media trends, engage with our audience, and promptly respond to comments and messages appropriately as the lead member of the social media team.
- Draft engaging social media copy tailored for each channel and collaborate with marketing team members to complete copywriting assignments as outlined on the social media calendar.
- Maintain a working knowledge of social media best practices and trends, including copy length requirements, image specs and design guidelines and make recommendations for changes in practices.
- Assist Director of Marketing and Communications with digital budget planning and tracking.
Website Management
- Manage and maintain theater’s website to ensure accurate information and a positive user experience, including building new pages, maintaining publication and updating schedule, and making iterative improvements.
- Collaborate with a third-party website design/development firm and the box office to ensure seamless integration between the theater’s website and ticketing software.
- Analyze web traffic and optimize online content, considering SEO, Google Analytics, A/B testing, etc.
- Maintain and improve website and online ticketing functionalities.
Marketing Support
- Contribute to and assists with marketing plans, budgets, project management, and scheduling as assigned.
- Represent Ensemble at events, conferences, and festivals and serves as a marketing representative in the community as needed.
- Attend department meetings and communicate relevant updates to the team.
Qualifications
- BA/BS or equivalent, plus 3–4 years of digital marketing experience, preferably in the nonprofit arts sector.
- Excellent writing skills with an emphasis on crafting engaging and effective marketing language.
- Outstanding organization and communication skills, including being comfortable dealing with patrons and agency partners.
- Working knowledge of digital media best practices (social, SEO/SEM, display, etc.) as well as Google Analytics and A/B testing.
- Proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, etc.), Dropbox, Canva, and Facebook Content Creator Studio.
- Direct experience with an email marketing application, a website CMS (e.g., WordPress), and social monitoring (e.g., Sprout Social) is highly desirable.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and a CRM platform a plus.
- Ability to work independently, show initiative, and manage multiple projects.
- A willingness to learn new technologies and assist others and the ability to work autonomously and solve problems with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of local arts community and passion for theatre is preferred.
- The ideal candidate will also have their own transportation.
