Job Description

SUMMARY

Albany Pro Musica is seeking an individual passionate about the arts and with the development and communications experience necessary to help build the capacity of a rapidly growing choral arts organization. The Development and Marketing Associate, a part-time employee, will join an expanding team of highly capable professionals in executing fundraising programs designed for individual donors, corporate giving, foundation and government grants, and special events. This individual will also assist the Deputy Executive Director and APM’s marketing consultants with marketing and communications, in cultivating and stewarding donors, patrons, and corporate partners, aiding grant development, and supporting event planning as it relates to fundraising.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Corporate and Institutional Fundraising:

  • Coordinate corporate giving benefits, ensuring sponsors are recognized and acknowledged at the appropriate giving level
  • Work closely with the Deputy Director and the Development Manager to ensure that corporate and individual donor benefits are aligned
  • Build a pipeline of new corporate donor prospects and develop strategies to deepen engagement with current corporate sponsors
  • Identify opportunities for foundation and corporate grants; support application preparation; track and act on reports and follow-ups from funders

Communications and Marketing:

  • Serve as staff liaison to external marketing consultants
  • Support the generation and editing of content for concert programs and marketing materials, both print and digital
  • Identify marketing opportunities to raise the profile of APM with a goal toward expanding the audience and broadening the donor pool

Events:

  • Collaborate with the Deputy Executive Director, Development Manager, and Events Committee Chairperson in the planning of annual fundraising events (1-2 events/season)
  • Assist with the planning and management of post-concert receptions and other special events (2-4 events/season)

 

QUALIFICATIONS

The right candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm and excitement about the opportunity to enhance the development capacity and marketing efforts of Albany Pro Musica, and will possess the following:

  • Minimum of three years’ successful experience in development and/or communications and marketing with a non-profit organization; experience with a performing arts organization a plus
  • Strong computer skills, including fluency with Microsoft Office suite and experience with fundraising database software; familiarity with eTapestry and Adobe Creative Suite a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, coupled with discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexibility and demonstrated ability to work well with board, staff, and volunteers
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills, and the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Minimum: bachelor’s degree
  • Familiarity with music, particularly choral music, a plus

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This is a part-time salaried position at a competitive rate per annum with benefits including paid time off for holidays, vacation, and sick leave. Like the entire APM team, the Development and Marketing Associate primarily works remotely. Some on-site/in-person time may be required at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall or elsewhere in the Capital Region (particularly as required by events and special projects, such as mailings). Remote-work arrangements and schedule must be approved by the Deputy Executive Director.
