The Humanities Department at LaGuardia Community College is seeking a highly motivated and innovative candidate for a full-time, tenure track, Assistant Professor to continue building an award winning theatre program. Primary responsibilities include teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. The successful candidate will contribute to our diverse community through their teaching, research, creative work and service. The Assistant Professor shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions. They must be available to direct one production per academic year. The preferred candidate will also possess the ability to be flexible and adaptable in using spaces that are shared with other departmental programs and the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center, the professional theatre on campus. The Theatre Program at LaGuardia Community College also has a rich tradition of working with the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. The preferred candidate will have a working knowledge of the festival and will be able to contribute to LaGuardia’s future participation at the festival at both, the regional and national levels.
M.F.A. or Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
– Two year minimum teaching experience at the collegiate level
– Must have experience directing theatre and teaching in any of these capacities: Devised Theatre, Theatre Management or Arts Administration and Leadership.
