Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts
Simpson College invites nominations and applications for the position of full-time, Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts.
Simpson College is seeking an experienced teacher/director to teach history/literature and directing courses and direct one production annually in a vibrant and productive theatre department. This tenure-track position will potentially teach theatre history, script analysis, beginning directing, and the senior theatre capstone course. The position will participate in the general education program of the college.
Ph.D. in Theatre, Performance Studies, or allied field. Strongly preferred: college-level teaching experience. Commitment to and success in undergraduate teaching is essential. The candidate should have interdisciplinary interest, and experience and/or expressed interest in working at a primarily residential, liberal arts institution. Candidates for the position must demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and a willingness to engage students in scholarship, research, and/or creative work. Faculty members at Simpson College are expected to participate in faculty governance, student advising, new student recruitment, and in other ways that demonstrate support of the mission of the institution. Successful applicants must demonstrate a commitment to cultural diversity and inclusive teaching practices that will contribute to a campus climate that supports equity and diversity.
