Chief of Education and Guest Experience–Holden Forests & Gardens
Holden Forests & Gardens was created in 2014 when the Holden Arboretum and Cleveland Botanical Garden joined forces to have a greater impact on the community than either could on its own. The integrated organization pursues that goal through urban greening and forestry initiatives, environmental research, educational programs, and world-class visitor experiences at the Holden Arboretum in Kirtland, Ohio and Cleveland Botanical Garden in Cleveland’s University Circle cultural district.
HF&G is in an exciting period of growth and change, supported by a rich history. As a combined organization, it comprises one of the largest arboretums in the country at 3,600 acres, and is unique in the country with the combination of a major arboretum and a major botanical garden.
We seek a talented individual to assume the role of Chief of Education and Guest Experience. Reporting to the CEO, the CEGE is responsible for the Holden Forests & Gardens customer journey, global visitor experience, delivery of knowledge, and revenue/attendance generation across the Arboretum and Garden campuses with the goal of creating life-long stewards and advocates of the natural world. Accountable for meeting/exceeding revenue and attendance goals for all program areas under direct supervision including annual attendance goals.
Ensures that the mission is relevant and alive through formal and informal programs serving students, teachers, multi-generational public audiences, community groups, members, and donors. Oversees a guest experience that welcomes diverse audiences, ensures the highest standard of customer service, generates repeat visitation, and inspires greater engagement in the organization. Partners with staff and leadership team colleagues to develop stories, messages, and delivery methods that respond to the needs of today’s audiences and the needs of the communities served by Holden Forests & Gardens. Supervises education, special exhibitions and programs, guest services, and events for Holden Forests & Gardens, across the Arboretum and Garden campuses.
We are interested in speaking with people with a minimum of 10 years of programming, education, and leadership experience and a proven track record of success preferably in a cultural, environmental, educational, or related organization. This individual will embrace Holden’s mission, goals and objectives and have an entrepreneurial spirit.
