Visiting Assistant Professor Costume Design and Costume Director (Productions)
The School of Liberal Arts, Department of Theatre and Dance seeks to hire one Visiting Assistant Professor for a one-year, non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor position in the area of Costume Design and Costume Direction.
The appointment will begin 1 July 2021 and will carry an annual salary of $42,000.

We have particular needs in the following areas:
Undergraduate students and MFA graduate students during the academic year 2021-2022:
- Design Fundamentals I (graduate), Research Methodology (period styles), Rendering for Designers, Costume Design, Design for TV (team-taught), Production and Design I and II (undergrad-team taught), Portfolio Design, Thesis Production for 2 graduate students, or other as mutually agreed upon with Design Faculty.
- Costume Direction/Productions:
Coordination and supervision of costume components for 5 main stage productions of Department of Theatre and Dance 2021-2022 season in collaboration with costume shop supervisor, draper, design team, directing team, and graduate/undergraduate costume designers. Costume Design for one production may be required.
The position is a full-time, non-tenure track position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor.
Teaching load is 3 courses per semester at the undergraduate level and for MFA Theatrical Design and Technical Theatre candidates (2-4 in costume design).
The candidate is expected to have a graduate MFA degree in Theatrical Design and Technical Production (Costume emphasis), professional experience, and a record of teaching, preferably at the college level. Responsibilities are teaching costume design and design-related courses, and costume direction for productions. The best candidates will have experience working on a team in costume design and for production collaboration.
- Skills and expertise: experience in research/development in costume design, drawing and rendering, production management, fittings, wardrobe requirements, costume sourcing, historical context, and collaboration.
- Preferred: Professional experience in the field of costume design, production, and teaching.
