Job Description

Training Center Director
Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Reports to Board of Directors

Stomping Ground Comedy’s Training Center Director should be a highly motivated individual excited to grow a new nonprofit organization in a positive and professional environment.

Flexible schedule: This position requires 80 hours per month, with 65% of time on administrative duties that may be worked remotely as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a leadership position
  • Ability to learn quickly, be adaptive in a busy performance space, and thrive under pressure
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Experience teaching; theater and improv a plus
  • Education administration experience a plus
  • Experience with budget oversight, staff management, customer service, or operational management
  • Experience with Excel or Google Sheets
  • Past education within an improv training center a plus

Responsibilities:

Metrics-based:

  • Responsible for meeting financial goals of training center as determined by the annual budget
  • Responsible for meeting student retention goals as determined by the Director Team’s annual review
  • Track progress to goals and perform root-cause analysis to resolve issues

Curiculum:

  • Oversee creation of all adult training center curriculum
  • Organize and manage documentation of all adult training center curriculum
  • Facilitate regular reviews and updates of all adult training center curriculum

Instructor Management:

  • Serve as direct Supervisor for all adult training center instructors
  • Hold 1-1 meetings with Instructors every term
  • Facilitate Instructor Assessment each term and maintain Instructor records
  • Oversee and conduct any Instructor Performance Improvement Plan or termination
  • Recruit & train instructors for Training Center as needed

Student Management:

  • Manage and oversee all student documentation, including incident reports
  • Help facilitate and conduct internal investigations regarding student complaints (if appropriate) in conjunction with legal advisement regarding any Instructor, and if necessary, Director Team
  • Make recommendations for Internships, Scholarships, recruiting for each as needed
  • Attend 50% of auditions and ensure other instructors are present for 50% of auditions in order to provide relevant feedback
  • Attend all student showcases and provide feedback to instructors as needed

Administrative:

  • Create and manage Instructor schedule each term
  • Provide Operations Director and website manager with upcoming Instructor and Class schedule one week after the start of each term
  • Create annual Training Center schedule in conjunction with Operations Director
  • Work with Director Team and/or Operations Director to determine budget and pricing for workshops/trainings
  • Facilitate scheduling and budget management in conjunction with Operations Director for all special workshops, including the recruitment of visiting/guest artists for special workshops.
  • Work with Artistic Director to plan and execute student showcases
  • Approve and document all Instructor absences and substitutions
  • Provide Operations Director with Instructor pay details so checks can be distributed (prior to 1st and 16th of each month)
  • Manage student enrollment and information documentation for each term
  • Manage Instructor and Student building access for training center related activities
  • Oversee production and distribution of Student IDs
  • Add all classes to shared Stomping Ground Google Calendar
  • Facilitate Signing of Student Handbook by all students
  • Work with Marketing to facilitate all mass communication to students regarding Training Center via Stomping Ground Student & Performer Facebook Page and via email
  • Facilitate all curriculum, scheduling, and building management communications to Instructors

Professional Development:

  • Continue relevant education
  • Familiarize self with current improv market, training center trends and techniques
  • Provide Training Center Instructors with continuing education, training opportunities, and resources

Other:

  • Serve as a Brand Ambassador for Stomping Ground, promoting and representing the brand at all times
  • Work with Marketing Director to develop and facilitate training center related promotions
  • Develop and implement Training Center culture in alignment with Stomping Ground mission statement and philosophy

Compensation:

$15,000 per year, with additional eligibility for contract performer and instructor pay as experience and availability allows
