Internship Summer Intern – Creativity Project

Job Description

POSITION OFFERED
• Experienced Creative Director, comedy writer, playwright, and speech consultant to the great (incl. a great Mayor of NYC) and near-great (I’m not telling), looking for a research and writing intern who can assist me in finding and organizing materials and concepts for a smart, funny, and practical guide book (and eventual lecture series) on “Creativity.”
(How to use it. When to use it. Why to use it. So use it already!)
• The ideal candidate will participate in, take notes on, then write up brainstorm sessions with me and my colleagues. (UWS Manhattan)
• The intern will also be expected to do independent research, culling examples from the world of the Arts (film, television, music, art, literature) – as well as less obvious sources. (business presentations, greeting cards, party favors, break-up excuses)
• The intern needs to be able to work hard, listen carefully, write fluidly, and have a good sense of humor (or at least an appreciation thereof).

INTERN WILL LEARN AND BE EXPOSED TO:
• Hands on creative brainstorming
• Real time project development
• Professional feedback on writing and research at a high level
• Participation in diverse meetings with interesting people

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Research creativity in all its forms
• Assist in brainstorming and planning
• Participate in meetings
• Capture and report on ideas and specific language

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be motivated, organized, and possess strong writing and communication skills
• Interest in the Arts, people, and humor

SCHEDULE and COMPENSATION:
• Guaranteed 9 weeks (start approx. May 1/finish July 3) (could extend)
• Guaranteed 10 hours per week (some work can be done remotely around intern’s schedule)
• $17 per hour
