Job Description

Job Summary:
The A4S Program Manager is responsible for ensuring high quality programming in the schools through thoughtful hiring of highly qualified art teaching faculty, support of teachers through regular communication about curriculum and classroom management, maintenance and development of art curriculum and coordination of art exhibits of student work throughout the community and at their school sites. The Program Manager is responsible creating schedules, maintaining school contracts and working toward additional contracts with schools.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Leadership:
• Contribute to strategy development for niche and branding of Art School
• Represent School in the community as arts advocate and standards-based curriculum expert
• Contribute to the development of and meet annual budgets goals and manage expenses
• Design and lead Program Evaluation
• Meet with principals, mentor teachers and school site art teachers to strategize scheduling and launch year
• Maintain positive relationships with school administrators, art teachers, classroom teachers, and parents (includes scheduling classes, communicating program goals, general correspondence, and resolving problems)
• Manage contract negotiations with schools and districts
• Ensure a high quality student art experience
• Supervise and support the program coordinator and the program administrative assistant

• Hire, train, supervise, support and evaluate faculty, and approve biweekly timecards in a timely manner
• Oversee faculty training program

• Research and develop compelling curriculum, keeping current with state standards
• Supervise and support mentor teachers


• MFA or MA in Art or Arts Education
• Prior experience in program management
• Understanding of developmental levels of learning art at the elementary school level
• High level of classroom management skills
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills, organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to interact positively with a diverse group of people
• Competent at basic computer skills
• Prior experience teaching art in a classroom to elementary school age children
