Full-Time Production/Facilities Manager and Technician
The Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia has an immediate opening for a Production and Facilities Manager.
This is a fulltime position with a flexible 40 hour work week and benefits package which includes Health Insurance, Paid Holidays, and Vacation/Sick days.
Typical schedule will be 11am – 8pm and some weekends; however, applicant must be prepared to meet performance needs which may be scheduled at any time during the week.
The Production and Facilities Manager will report to the Associate Executive Director. Duties will include managing all production processes, front of house duties, client relations with renters, and equipment operation, training, and maintenance responsibilities of AV and Tech as well as facilities management. Serve as a production technician in the areas of event staging, lighting, sound, and audio/visual presentation for Center programs and rentals.
The position will be highly involved with the renovation and updating of our current auditorium and the equipping and opening of a new small performance facility.
The ideal candidate will possess general knowledge of stage and event safety, stage lighting protocols and safety, event technology background and general stagecraft. General facilities and maintenance management knowledge is preferred, but not required—will train.
Bachelor’s degree in theater production, technical theater or facilities management desired. Will consider applicable work experience in stage or production in lieu of educational requirements.
•Event Technician for events in the Chaiken Auditorium and other venues as assigned at the Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia. Manage all production processes, front of house duties, client relations with renters, and equipment operation, training, and maintenance responsibilities of AV and Tech as well as facilities.
Essential Functions of the Production Position:
•Preserve the safety of patrons, staff and participants in all Center programs, partner programs, and rentals.
•Be the primary point of contact with Chaiken Auditorium programmers and other presenters.
•Serve as primary or secondary technician for client events.
•Serve as a production manager in the areas of event staging, lighting, sound, and audio/visual presentation for Center programs and rentals.
•Maintain and preserve the equipment and facility of the Center in the areas to which assigned.
•Provide staff training in areas of AV/Technical Equipment
•Participate in other setup and staging roles as needed at the Center, including but not limited to: setting up tables and chairs, presentation furnishings (podia, lecterns, stage platforms, etc.
•Work in partnership with Facilities Superintendent to provide complimentary building coverage
•Provide onsite support to all building systems including alarm monitoring, fire alarm and suppression systems, electrical, IT, HVAC
•Work in a team environment.
•Communicate effectively with others.
•Perform other related duties as needed.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
•Must be able to lift 50 lbs. off the floor in a dead lift to waist height and hold it for 60 seconds. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. overhead and hold for 60 seconds.
•Must demonstrate ability to work at heights up to and including/exceeding 35 ft. Must not have any physical condition that would prohibit safe and secure performance at heights and including/exceeding 35 ft.
•Flexible work availability which may include some nights and weekends as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
•General knowledge of stage and event safety, stage lighting protocols and safety, event technology background. General stagecraft.
•General facilities and maintenance management knowledge
Education and Experience:
•Minimum experience preferred: Currently enrolled in Associates degree program in General Theatre, Stage Technology or similar academic track. Will consider 3 years’ experience in stage or event production, in lieu of academic training.
•Expected to have knowledge of, and respect for, the mission of the Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia.

•Preferred experience includes: stage rigging, ETC lighting console programming, Live Sound Mixing, Audio/Video and computer technology.
