Part-Time Museum Attendant
The UA Museum of the North seeks outgoing customer service and sales oriented people for the winter season, September – May, Wednesday through Sunday, 10 AM to 6 PM.
Provide excellent customer service for our visitors. Take an active role in the selling, displaying, storage, tracking and marketing of Museum store merchandise. Sell museum admission tickets, movie tickets and optional tours. Answer questions visitors may have about the museum and Alaska. Verify and monitor daily sales and admission deposits. Organize and maintain Visitor Services files. Impose and monitor Museum security procedures. Assist with a variety of special events. Assist with tour companies and other visiting groups. Assist Visitor Services with a variety of duties as assigned.

The Visitor Services department is looking for a few great people to join this fast paced, customer service focused team. We have an amazing time helping visitors from all over the world, every day. This is a customer service position where our main focus is simply making sure our guests feel welcome and enjoy their time at the museum. We are looking for friendly, energetic individuals that are committed to providing excellent service to our visitors. Cash handling and prior tourism experience preferred. A background in retail sales is helpful but not necessary.
Must be willing to work between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Will be asked to work a varied schedule, Wednesday through Sunday. Will be required to work additional hours as special events require.

* Working knowledge of word and point of sale systems.
* Sales and customer service experience.
* Ability to work cooperatively with staff members.
* Ability to speak in front of groups of people.
* Ability to maintain a positive, customer service attitude.
* Ability to lift 40 pounds.
Prior customer service.
REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
Prior experience working in the visitor industry in Alaska is strongly preferred.
This is a temporary, unbenefited position. Rate of pay is $11.68/hour.
This is a pool position, applications will be reviewed on an as needed basis.
