Full-Time Instructor of Theatre – one year appointment
Instructor (Full-time, not tenure track)
The Theatre Program at East Central University seeks applicants for a full-time position at the Instructor level. Starting date is August 2019.
ECU is a student-centered regional state university located in Ada, Oklahoma. ECU offers thirty-three undergraduate baccalaureate degree programs in arts and letters, business, education, mathematics and sciences, nursing, and the social sciences; and eleven master’s degrees in accounting, education, human resources, political science, and psychology. ECU’s 4,400 students come from 32 countries and 28 different states. About 65% of the 168 faculty hold doctorates.
Our School of Fine Arts has a small, high quality, Theatre Program that is seeking a generalist to teach Acting, Directing, and Technical Theatre, along with supervising the scene shop and directing at least one production annually. The successful candidate will be a recognized performer and educator with the ability to recruit outstanding students. Service to East Central University will include “front of house” duties in the theater. Responsibilities also include advising students, completing scholarly or creative work in the field, and serving the broader community. The Theatre Program is interested in growing in directions that include but are not limited to: indigenous theatre, playwriting, and musical theatre. Masters degree in theater is required, an MFA or doctorate is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate successful teaching and performing.
