Guest Director for THE HOBBIT→ Quincy, Illinois, United States
Quincy Community Theatre seeks a guest director for its mainstage student theatre production of THE HOBBIT, adapted from J.R.R. Tolkien’s novel by Edward Mast. The Guest Director will work closely with QCT’s nine professional staff and guest production team to bring this classic story to life.
Before The Lord of the Rings, there was The Hobbit. Join Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf and Thorin Oakenshield on their legendary quest to reclaim the dwarves’ ancestral home from the sinister dragon Smaug. From the Shire, to the Battle of the Five Armies, to deep underground—where a twisted creature guards his “precious” ring—Bilbo’s journey through Middle-earth abounds with peril, unparalleled adventure, and a healthy helping of Hobbit humor.
Quincy Community Theatre’s mission is to offer and perpetuate quality theatre entertainment and education in the performing arts through community participation. QCT produces eight shows each year: four mainstage adult productions, two mainstage student productions, one student production in QCT’s lab theatre, and one student touring production for area schools and community centers. Quincy, Illinois is a city along the Mississippi River with a population of 40,000, where there is strong support for the arts. Quincy Community Theatre has its own facility in the Oakley-Lindsay Center, with a proscenium stage and a house size of 498.
