Summary

Rebuild Foundation is an artist-led, community-based platform for art, cultural development, and neighborhood transformation.
Founded by artist and social innovator Theaster Gates, Rebuild supports artists and strengthens communities by providing free arts programming and creating new cultural amenities on the South Side of Chicago.

We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager. 

This role will work in tandem with the Bookkeeper and report to the Director of Programs and Operations, with additional input from the Executive Director. The Finance Manager will have a role both in the financial oversight of the organization as well as in the daily financial operations.
Included in this position will be monthly financial reporting, grant reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, in addition to monthly close processes, such as reconciliations, journal entries, and reviewing the accuracy of all accounting transactions.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monthly financial reporting
  • Grant expense tracking and reporting
  • Monthly cash flow forecasting
  • Annual budgeting
  • Serve as liaison for annual audit
  • Monthly financial close, including reconciliations, making journal entries for prepaid expenses and payroll, etc., recording unrestricted and restricted revenues, and reviewing accuracy of all accounting entries while ensuring adherence to GAAP, accounting manual policies, and non-profit fund accounting
  • Any other tasks as required, which may include but is not limited to, sending invoices, processing 1099’s, making vendor payments, renewing business licenses, filing sales tax reports, processing semi-annual property tax payments

Required Skills, Characteristics, Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Accounting
  • Preferred experience in non-profit accounting
  • Positive attitude
  • Ability to work with a team in a supportive manner
  • Numerical accuracy and attention to detail
  • An analytical mind – you enjoy solving problems and persist in getting an answer
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good organization and multitasking
  • Strong Quickbooks Desktop skills and a willingness to keep learning as software and apps keep evolving and upgrading

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: From $78,000.00 per year

  • Accounting: 3 years (Required)

License/Certification:
