Friends of Thacker Mountain Radio, Inc., seeks an Executive Director/Producer (EDP) for the radio show.
The Thacker Mountain Radio Hour is a weekly live radio show featuring author readings and a wide array of musical performances from Oxford’s beloved square. The free show is taped before a live audience and broadcast every Thursday at 6:00 p.m. during the fall and spring and rebroadcast every Saturday on Mississippi Public Broadcasting (7pm) and Alabama Public Radio (9pm).
Our mission is to celebrate and document the diverse sounds and stories of an evolving South through free live music and literary arts performances, live radio broadcasts, and various multi-media platforms.

The Executive Director/Producer is integral to Thacker Mountain Radio. The EDP, who reports to the Board of Directors, will have responsibility for programming the weekly show, for raising funds to maintain the listener-supported show, for marketing the program across the state and beyond, and for managing the day-to-day operations, including the annual budget and the volunteer staff. The EDP will work closely with the host of the show, the house band, sponsors of the show, the Board of Directors, and other arts community members in Oxford and around the South.
The EDP will maintain quality of excellence in our programming, maintain and grow partnerships/collaborations in the community, increase fundraising, and will work to continue to grow the diversity of artists and audience members.
Responsibilities of the EDP include but are not limited to:
Find, research, and book all musical and literary sets that appear on each TMR show.
Set vision and direction for each episode of TMR.
Orchestrate logistics for performance preparation, communicate details with guests, and manage crew.
Direct live performances of each edition of TMR.
Direct post-production of all live performances.
Research, write, execute and report on granted funds.
Set yearly budgets with Fundraising/Budget Oversight board committees.
Determine yearly fundraising goals with Fundraising/Budget Oversight board committees.
Develop strategy and work with the Fundraising Committee to achieve quarterly fundraising goals.
Determine marketing strategy with Marketing board committees.
Manage Interns to execute on daily marketing tasks.
Build and strengthen the TMR brand with the Marketing board committee.
Direct, with the Marketing committee, the ongoing design and maintenance of TMR’s website/web presence.
Determine, with the Board of Directors, overall vision and direction for TMR.
Manage the day-to-day operations of TMR.
Work with the Board to set yearly budgets.
Work with the Treasurer to track budget expenditures and report on budget progress to TMR’s Board.
Track and process all gifts to TMR Radio.
Negotiate new and maintain existing relationships with potential underwriters of TMR remote shows.
Manage all logistics of travel to remote show locations.
Bachelor degree and/or equivalent non-profit administration or musical/performance management experience.
Strong organizational and management skills.
Prior experience in the music industry.
Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
Exhibited self-motivation and drive.
Passion for music, literature and the diverse artistic culture of the South.
Experience in the music industry, booking and managing acts.
Non-profit or business administration experience to include budgeting and fundraising.
Management experience, preferably managing volunteers/interns.
