Full-Time Deputy Director, Arts and Public Life
The University of Chicago Arts + Public Life Initiative is seeking a dynamic non-profit leader for the position of:
Deputy Director, Arts and Public Life
Working closely with APL Director, Jaqueline Stewart, the entire APL team, and colleagues in the community and across the University, the Deputy Director provides senior day-to-day leadership of the Arts + Public Life Initiative and works in partnership with the Director to develop and advance APL’s strategic, programmatic and operational goals. The Deputy Director manages all staff, directs APL’s daily operations including finance, fundraising, marketing, communications, and human resources. In addition the Deputy Director promotes and creates partnerships with community, University and other key stakeholders and serves as a key leader in helping to further develop and manage the Arts Block. Reporting to the Director of Arts + Public Life, the Deputy Director works closely with colleagues across UChicago Arts, the Office of Civic Engagement, and individuals and organizations throughout Chicago and beyond to advance APL’s mission.
Arts + Public Life (APL), an initiative of UChicago Arts, advances and promotes a robust, collaborative, and evolving relationship between the University of Chicago and the South Side’s vibrant civic, cultural, and artistic communities by providing platforms for artists and access to arts programming through artist residencies, arts education, creative entrepreneurship, and artist-led programs and exhibitions. APL operates the Arts Incubator, Green Line Performing Arts Center, and Creative Business Incubator on the Arts Block, a burgeoning arts and culture corridor along East Garfield Boulevard from South Prairie Avenue to South Martin Luther King Drive.
