Costume Shop Supervisor→ New York, New York, United States
Supervise and ensure safe and efficient operations for Theatrical Production Costume Shop including costume construction, and maintenance of facilities, equipment and materials. Implement planning, budgeting and purchasing. Maintain schedule for production-based goals and evaluate progress. Facilitate technical development and competence of student staff in use of equipment, costume construction, troubleshooting and repair methods. Establish and enforce appropriate safety procedures.
Bachelor’s Degree in theatre or related field
Master’s Degree in Fine Arts with a concentration in costuming
2+ years Must include experience with costume construction, production space management, theatrical productions, and staff supervision.
Experience strongly preferred: Hair, wigs and makeup skills
2+ years Tailoring, dying and millinery
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent communication, organizational, and team building skills. Knowledge of draping and pattern drafting and current costume construction techniques including machine and hand sewing, dying fabric painting, millinery, and crafts. Familiarity with common office applications, excel, photoshop and presentation software. Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Expert in draping and pattern drafting. Completion of a costume construction/design training program.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $65,250.00 to USD $79,750.00. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
