Full-Time Assistant or Associate Professor of Theatre
The South Carolina School of the Arts at Anderson University invites applications for a full-time, experienced Musical Theatre and Acting faculty member with a strong Christian value system, lifestyle and commitment to the integration of faith and learning as Assistant or Associate Professor of Theatre.
The University seeks a dynamic and experienced Musical Theatre specialist to join a team of five full-time faculty and coordinate a strong BFA degree program in Musical Theatre, with a student population in that degree of approximately 55.
The position starts in August 2019. Faculty rank and status will be determined at the time of appointment based upon the degrees, experience and record of scholarship.

The Department of Theatre has two BFA programs (Musical Theatre and Acting), a BA in Theatre with a Concentration in Theatrical Design and a BA in Theatre, serving 105 full-time majors. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for Musical Theatre courses, but will also be responsible for teaching acting courses as needed. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for directing large and studio musicals, advising Musical Theatre students and preparing student-actors for professional and competitive auditions. Qualifications include a terminal degree in Acting and/or Musical Theatre; significant professional acting experience; significant directing experience; and a substantial track record of teaching Musical Theatre and Acting courses at the collegiate level.
Anderson University has earned first-place awards at recent SCTA and KCACTF Region IV Musical Theatre competitions. Graduates from the program are working professionally in the field and are recruited to excellent graduate programs nationwide. Anderson University recognizes three paths for faculty employment: annual appointment, professional path, and tenure track. Faculty in the Professional Path focus on teaching and learning and are evaluated on mission fit, teaching and learning, and service; and they are able to promote through professorial ranks. After six years of exemplary service, faculty on the Professional Path become eligible for multi-year contracts. Faculty on tenure track focus initially on teaching and learning, but they are evaluated on mission fit, teaching and learning, service, and scholarship. Tenure Track faculty promote through professorial ranks and are eligible for tenure status in year six.
