- Cheryl Bourque began her career as assistant to the designers at Droll Designs, an exclusive, hand-painted ceramic / pottery enterprise. Their products sell world-wide in unique and elite boutiques and national upscale retail markets including, Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman.
- Her talents and experience lead to the creation of Art Soup in Rowley, MA. Her studio allowed customers to paint their own home accessories including pottery, glass and wood products on a walk-in or class basis. Soon after, her studio expanded to a larger location to include customized in home faux finishing, decorative painting services and an exclusive finish ware line of tabletop accessories. Her successful art programs for children led to multiple collaborations with schools, libraries and local organizations to create large scale tile installations and murals.
- Her studio’s success subsequently led to multiple designs created for National Geographic Museum Stores and The Celebration Fantastic catalog featuring the designs of Claire Murray, Limoge and Michael Simon fashions. Cheryl also designed exclusive lines for restaurants, boutiques and began licensing her designs to The Essex Collection, a New England based decorative accessories wholesaler. She was commissioned to design a tabletop place setting for their “Millennium” collection which was marketed and sold nation-wide in upscale boutiques and big chain retailers including TJ Maxx and Marshall’s. Her designs have also been featured in Cigar Aficionado magazine.
- By leveraging her experience in the contemporary studios industry she created a line of paint your own pottery kits for the craft and hobby industry that were sold in her studio, upscale catalogs, boutiques and national chains. Cheryl’s success and experience in the ceramics industry has created numerous consulting opportunities with startup studios. The proliferation of contemporary paint your own pottery studios in the Northeast is due in part to her entrepreneurship. Her studio served as an incubator for the industry’s leading ceramics supply company, Gare, Inc. Gare maintains that her studio was the model for other contemporary studios to follow.
- Cheryl resides in southwest Florida with her husband and their four children. Her recent design projects include several copyrights for fabric designs and a patent pending interchangeable sandal design for children called Zooshuu.
