Summary

I am a recent graduate from California State University Long Beach with a BA in Art History. I choose to focus on courses that increased my knowledge in modern and contemporary art. I took this emphasis even further by looking at more then just the western view point in art, I choose to gain a global prospective on the history of art. This path has given me both a deeper appreciation as well as understanding of the art that has come out of modern and contemporary times. In addition to my studies I have gained further experience by working hands on with art in a museum setting. I am a creative, organized, passionate, detail-orainted and dedicated to every task I am given.

Experience

Art Related experience

Collection Intern April 2015- present
Museum of Latin American Art

This position has provided me with a variety of skills. First and for most it has provided me with registrar skills, this includes the handling of art of all sizes and mediums, installation and deinstallation of exhibitions, safely storing and packaging art. Also creating condition reports for art both in and outside of the permanent collection. I also have experience working with art databases, from research databases to storage/collection databases.

In addition, I have experience working with the curatorial department as well. I have done extensive research for up coming exhibitions from the preliminary research on the history of the art to finding and evaluating artists work we want to include in an exhibition. I also have compiled contact information for artist, sponsors, and participants. I have also written exhibition proposals for exhibitions we have curated to travel to other museums.

Pacific Asia Museum
Researched and wrote didactic labels for “The View from the Scholar’s Studio: Japanese Literati Paintings from Tiezudingzhai Collection “

Mingei International Museum
While consulting with the curator, I conducted preliminary research for an upcoming exhibition, providing different directions in which the exhibition could proceed. Also worked with collectors to provide insight and art works for the exhibition.

Museum of Latin American Art -Volunteer 2014-present

I have also worked as a volunteer in many departments of the museum. From assisting the membership department to working different stations at different events the museum has held both at MOLAA and outside. I have also had the pleasure of working multiple gala’s the museum has held. At these I worked a silent art auction as well as a live art auction. During the live auction I was in charge of safely transporting the sold art from the stage to the packaging area. I was also in charge of packaging the art to be picked up by the buyers. As MOLAA is a smaller institution it relies heavily on the support of volunteers and I would volunteer on average 2-4 times per month.
