Summary

Kim has been teaching private voice lessons, vocal performance workshops and voice technique workshops to individuals and groups around the world for almost 20 years. Her studio has been represented in over 50 Broadway shows and National Tours as well as numerous Off-Broadway and Regional productions. Her clients also include recording artists, opera singers, cabaret artists and public speakers. She is the creator of The Broadway Warm- Up along with her business partner Deidre Goodwin.
As a performer, Kim has performed on Broadway, on National tours, in film and television and has done commercial and voice over work. She has also sung at Carnegie Hall with Bruce Springsteen and in the world concert, Live- Aid. Some other career highlights include working with Hal Prince, Jule Styne, Comden & Green, Martha Raye, Martin Charnin and Danny Kaye. Most recently she was seen playing Catherine Martin in the Off-Broadway hit: Silence!The Musical.

Owner/ Private Voice Teacher, Kim Stern Vocal Studio

Maintain a full service vocal studio of 15-25 students per week. Work primarily with adult
students at a professional level on vocal technique, voice production and audition technique. Specifically focused towards each individual student’s goals by providing them with vocal exercises, repertoire suggestions, transpositions, vocal arrangements and career guidance. Studio also offers workshops to groups in Vocal Performance, Vocal Technique, Pop Rock Technique and Breathing

Co-Owner/Co-Creator, The Broadway Warm-Up, LLC
2010-Present
Created a completely synchronized vocal and dance warm-up for performers that can be
completed in under 30 minutes with business partner Deidre Goodwin. Produced a DVD of The Broadway Warm-Up that is now available worldwide. Currently teach Broadway Warm-Up Workshops to groups from all over the country. Writer and Editor for Broadway Warm-Up Blog and social media presence.

Voice Faculty – Musical Theatre Department- LIU CW Post Campus
2014-Present
Teach individual private voice lessons to 20 students per week who are pursuing their degree in Musical Theatre, Acting or Dance. Create a comprehensive curriculum for students along with preparing them for a graded final presentation at the end of each semester.

Voice Studio Lab Instructor, New York Film Academy
2010-2011
Created the curriculum for the Voice Studio Lab class and led the pioneer BFA Musical Theatre Program through it’s first semesters.

Group Voice Teacher, Broadway Dance Center
1997-1998
Taught the children’s group voice class once a week. Led a group of 25 children aged 7-13 in group vocal exercises and taught group songs. Helped to organize students when it came to staging numbers.

Associate Voice Teacher, Liz Caplan Vocal Studio; New York, NY
1996-2008
Worked as the sole New York City Associate Voice Teacher to Liz Caplan for twelve years. Any student who came to the studio would come for an initial lesson with Liz. At that point, Liz would decide if she would have space to take that student on as a regular client or if they might benefit more through spending some time working with me. At that point she would refer the student to me and I would take that student on as my own client. I would have bi- weekly meetings with Liz discussing each student’s progress and ideas and techniques that would ultimately help each student reach their goals and overcome any obstacles. During this time my studio was at capacity, teaching around 45-50 lessons per week.
