In the past seven years I have held various positions at Shenandoah University. Previous positions include Lighting Designer and Technical Director for the Dance Department, Production and Concert Hall Manager, and Adjunct Professor.
While my job description has changed somewhat from position to position, my overall duties were the management and implementation of all technical aspects related to various productions and concerts presented by Shenandoah University while also managing and instructing students in the theoretical and practical application of theatre production.
My typical day could start with design drafting and student instruction, move to carpentry and stage rigging, and end with addressing facilities and machinery issues like a flooding concert pit!

I am an independently contracted designer and artist working under my personal design business, JonZDesigns, LLC.  I provide quality designs and artistic work for theatrical, entertainment, and theme park industries.  A comprehensive list of my designs and other work can be found at www.jonzdesigns.com.
Regular clients include Wakefield School, Shenandoah University Apple Blossom Committee, and Shaw Parades.

SEASONAL THEATRE & PRODUCTION WORK, VARIOUS LOCATIONS

The regular schedule in the education sector allows for time to gain experience with other venues and industries and to perform in a variety of positions.  A full list of my seasonal positions is available upon request.  Highlights of my seasonal positions include: Lead Scenic Artist and Sculptor for The Washington National Opera, Scenic Art Supervisor for Carowinds Amusement Parks, Scenic Designer and Technical Director for The Wayside Theatre, Scenic Charge and Paint Shop Manager for Wolf Trap Opera Company, and various positions (from Master Carpenter to Designer to Technical Director) at Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre, Artistic Concepts Group, and Mainstage Theatrical Supply.
